Mission Statement
To
preserve, advance and disseminate knowledge of the history
of the greater Vicksburg area through research, the
preservation of artifacts, and the presentation
of exhibits, programs and events.
About Us
The Vicksburg Historic Village is operated by the Vicksburg Historical
Society (incorporated 4/7/71) and the Village of Vicksburg. It is located at 300 North Richardson Street near downtown Vicksburg. The Historic Village currently
consists of a Depot Museum, Express Office, Caboose and Boxcar, Print Shop, School House,
Farm House and Barn, Gazebo, Township Hall and Cemetery. The goal is to acquire
and restore an entire Historic Village.
Historical
Society Volunteers are available to answer questions about Vicksburg area history and assist with genealogy/family history questions.

Volunteer Opportunities

Saturday docents: 2 1/2 hour shifts from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. No special skills are needed except for a love of community and its history. Contact person is Judy Linders at 649-2808.

Help setting up for our monthly programs. We need help with refreshments and setting up chairs each month from May through November. Contact person is Sue Moore at 649-2453.

Bake Sale in December 5 from 10:00 a.m. to noon and noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Depot. Also donations for the Bake Sale would be appreciated.

Docents for the Historical Village buildings when we are open for special events. That's a fun thing to meet the public and provide insights on the displays in each building. Contact person is Lee Evensen at 649-2445.

"Thursday Guys" who help with construction projects and fix-er-uppers around the Historic Village. No special skills needed, just a desire to have some fun with the guys who take on the renovation projects in and around the historic buildings. Contact person is Ken Evensen at 649-2445.
